Roundup Cancer Lawsuits

On June 24, 2020, Bayer agreed to pay over $10 Billion to settle thousands of Roundup cancer lawsuits across the country. $1.25 Billion of this amount will be set aside for those who may develop cancer in the future as a result of Roundup exposure.

A number of studies have found evidence linking exposure to Glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup, exposure to certain types of cancer, including Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, Leukemia, Myeloma, and Soft Tissue Carcinoma. The studies also showed that the risk of these cancers is just as high with short term use as it was with long term use. Lawsuits allege that Monsanto, the maker of Roundup, knew of the dangers of glyphosate, but did not add a warning to the label.

Monsanto has claimed that Roundup is safe and non-carcinogenic since it brought the weed killer to the market more than 30 years ago. That claim has now opened Monsanto and Bayer to ongoing legal action, with victims cropping up across the globe.
